Cigar Federation - BAT OUTTA HECK
BACKSTORY…BAT OUTTA HECK was never supposed to exist! We were experimenting with aged San Andrés for something “reasonable.” Then someone added too much of the good stuff.
And to put a finer point on it…We accidentally used some tobaccos that were actually “earmarked” for someone else’s project. 😬
We smoked it anyway, and the blend went off the rails…Full-strength and Zero chill…Too intense for polite society.
Silence…Wide eyes…Someone finally said, “Well…we can’t release this.”
(And we got this small batch rolled and got the heck outta there before anyone was the wiser. Like a Bat Outta “Heck”)
I genuinely don’t have the words for how good this cigar is…and that’s not marketing fluff. Real talk: you could slap a $20 price tag on this, and no one would question it. Quote me.
BAT OUTTA HECK SECRET BLEND is a full-bodied, full-strength 5.5x56 Toro Extra. Wrapper is a chocolatey and oily 12-year-aged Corojo 99 Claro leaf. Fillers will remain a closely guarded secret...But I can tell you that they are all between 4 and 12 years old!
From their website
Wrapper: 12-year-aged Corojo 99 Claro leaf
Binder: Unk
Filler: Unk
Size: 5.5x56 Toro
The Cold Draw :
The draw has notes of peanut butter, baker’s chocolate, green peppercorn, jabacoba, myir, cane sugar, cava root, coffee, and blood orange
Flavors:
1st :
Initial puffs from this cigar have notes of baking, allspice, white oak, chocolate ganache, cola, brown butter, and créme brûlée. At first, there was a note like the cocktail grasshopper. and a flutter of musk in the back.
2nd:
The second third brings more fruit notes, with Asian pear sweetness, kumquat-candied acidity, and black tea. Notes of nougat are very pronounced, along with vanilla paste, and like sticky toffee pudding. Rounding out the second third were wormwood, raw cashew, and toasted rice, with a back note of spicy furikake.
3rd:
The last third of the cigar has a distinctive mushroom-soy sauce note at first, which gradually transitions into coffee. It also includes flavors like Brazilian leather, straw, pea shoots, lilac, whipped coffee sweetness, sweet paprika, and a flat white.
There was a black radish
The Draw :
I did an angled straight cut. The draw is constant and smooth, with no resistance, but I do purge a few times.
The Burn :
The burn is consistent and even, so it doesn't need to be relit.
I was surprised with the lack of smoke output from this cigar.
The Appearance :
The cigar itself is tight, with a light brown wrapper. It did have two protruding veins on the cigar and didn’t have any oil.
The band is black, with a white bat skeleton and words in purple, or on a purple background.
Final Thoughts:
86 Points
If you are looking for a desert in a cigar, it hits every aspect of sweetness and richness.
This cigar would be great paired with a nice pour-over of Colombian or Kona coffee to enhance its richness.
I am sorry to everyone, but this cigar is sold out now.
