Oak Gelen Tobacconist - Emerald Knight
The Emerald Knight is the Order’s scout, the navigator, the one who charts the path. Bold and complex, he takes us to places we have not gone before. The blend is a 3-year-aged Brazilian Habano (A tobacco we have never worked with before) over a Nicaraguan binder, with Esteli and Jalapa fillers. The green in the Emerald color is a nod to the Brazilian flag. It is released in one size: a 5×54 Robusto. This is a blend we have discovered from the Valicari Factory in Nicaragua. The intensity of flavor and the boldness are so incredible, it’s unreal. Intense notes of black pepper, baking spice, and sandalwood greet you, followed by cinnamon, vanilla, savory notes, umami, mushrooms, earth, and light sweetness. The cigar’s age takes this blend to the next level.

Flavors
1st :
The initial puffs of this cigar reveal a delightful blend of cola, mint, cocoa powder, apricot, activated charcoal, adobo, marshmallow, roasted bell pepper, and black violet.
There is a back note of Colombia Huhutengo espresso that was under-extracted.
2nd:
The second third of the cigar offers a more fruit-forward balance, featuring fruity pebbles, navel orange, and Arkansas black apple. It also has notes of burlap, oat, brown butter, baked cherry, malt, cracked ginger, and nettle.
Throughout the wine, the sweetness of Dimetra sugar and baker’s chocolate is present.
3rd:
The last third has more of an earthy note throughout, from malt, shiitake mushroom powder, and Calabrian chili Peperone Dolce. Notes of sweet navel orange and baker’s chocolate are throughout, along with long pepper, clay, and minth.
The Draw :
I did a V-cut but encountered resistance and could not get a good draw, so I made a straight cut.
After the draw was constant and smooth with no ristance to it, but I do purge a few times.
The Burn :
The burn is consistent and even, but once lit does not need to be relit and does have a high smoke output
The Appearance :
The wrapper is smooth, with a slight shine and very little oil.
It is a medium-full cigar with a slightly high nicotine content.
Final Thoughts:
91 Points
This cigar is the first out of an exclusive five-cigar set. That being said, it's a home run, very mellow, with a high flavor profile and complexity that changes all the time, and high smoke output. This is so well constructed and a great cigar that is so unique.
It is now sold out.
