Obsidian - White Noise

Most of what is known about this new line was released in the company’s statement.

After establishing a loyal following, many have embraced all that is Obsidian. And who can blame them? There's an awful lot to rejoice in. But now, after 2 years of tireless development, it's time to pull away the curtain and reveal the newest specimen to don the Obsidian name. Put your hands together for the highly anticipated follow-up to Obsidian, White Noise.

Obsidian White Noise was forged from a blank slate to provide a fresh, exciting, and captivating experience. Dressed in a gorgeous, golden-brown Ecuador Habano wrapper, each White Noise is simply stunning. But don't be fooled, because beneath this velvet glove awaits a bevy of hearty long-fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Selected from nutrient-rich primings, this core pairs exceedingly well with the sultry wrapper. The result is a highly polished Cuban-esque profile containing cedar, cream, pepper, nuts, and coffee, all backed by a toasty, slightly sweet note of tobacco. Beautifully balanced, this medium to full-bodied blend is exceptionally tasty. And by the time the burn reaches your fingers, you'll be dosing off in vision of another. Prepare to be mesmerized by Obsidian White Noise.

Wrapper: Habano Ecuador

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan

Size: 5″ × 54“ Robusto

The Cold Draw :

The flavors is of bakers chocolate, leather, cherry cola, hematite, and soy sauce.

Flavors

1st :

The initial puffs of this cigar contain black sesame oil, coca nib, leather, alfalfa, vanillin, hickory, allspice, yucca root, lotus, chai tea, chlorinated water, cedar, and peat.

2nd:

The second third brings more vegetable flavors, such as dried bell pepper, green tea, parsley, fresh almond, lima bean, Dutch process cocoa, black apricot, and rubber.

3rd:

The last third has the major flavor notes of earthy tones like soil and clay, nutty notes like cashew butter, cereal, blackberry, cocoa powder, pine nut, Cabernet grape, and minerals like pyrite and graphite.

The Draw :

I did a V cut. The draw is light throughout, more on the first half, though the construction is solid and tight with a smooth, lightly oily wrapper.

The Burn :

Ash is vigorous with slight flowering, and the char line is clean—a pretty slow burner.

There is not much smoke output from this cigar.

The Appearance :

It was wrapped with a single label with a white background, their logo on the bottom, and their name on top, covering 3/5 of the cigar.

This is a bad label. They will not slide off and can not be peeled off, leaving you no choice but to cut or rip it off, hoping not to damage the wrapper.

Final Thoughts:

58 Points

This cigar is pleasant but unremarkable and very consistent throughout. Not a complex blend.

It’s an okay cigar, but it's good for the price that it's a medium—heavy cigar, like a traditional Cuban.
